The Kotka Region has four public transport charging zones:
- A = Pyhtää kirkonkylä – Hirvikoski – Purola area and Kotka Huruksela area (abbreviation A Pyhtää).
- B = Local transport in Kotka (excluding the Huruksela area) and the Huutjärvi-Siltakylä area in Pyhtää (abbreviation B Kotka).
- C = Hamina urban area (excluding the Pyhällö area) (abbreviation C Hamina).
- D = Hamina Kitula – Pyhällö area (abbreviation D Pyhältö).
The alphabetic characters are used, for example, in receipts, online shops, and fare/stamping devices.
- When travelling within one zone, you pay the fare for one zone.
- For two zones, you pay the fare for journeys between Kotka and Hamina or Pyhtää kirkonkylä and Kotka, for example.
- From Pyhtää kirkonkylä to Hamina, you travel via zones A, B, and C, i.e., you pay a three-zone fare.
