Secondary school students (e.g., upper secondary school, vocational college) who meet Kela’s criteria for subsidized school travel can obtain a Kela-subsidized Waltti season ticket.
Students can apply for Kela’s school travel allowance by submitting an online application in OmaKela.

Once the application is approved, they can immediately download their Waltti ticket.
To download the ticket from the Waltti online shop, students must have an online bank account or a mobile account. In the Kotka region (Kotka-Hamina-Pyhtää), the Kela-subsidized 2nd level ticket can be found in the online shop by selecting all zones A-D. The subsidized school travel ticket can also be purchased at Waltti service points in Ruori (Kotka City Hall), Rinkeli (Hamina), or Pyhtää Library. Please note that the ticket cannot be purchased at the Waltti kiosk in Karhula.
